Sicilian by origin but raised in Milan, Mr. Salvatore Mario Abbate—better known as “Surveyor Abbate” among his collaborators and friends—founded CIVIC S.r.l. in 1994.

A forward-thinking entrepreneur with a strong appreciation for both technical innovation and aesthetics, Abbate was among the first in Italy to develop linear lighting systems in a variety of shapes. With a keen understanding of market needs, he introduced two iconic systems that remain popular today: ROUND and OVAL—now among the most widely replicated designs in the world.

CIVIC's ability to anticipate market trends and respond to evolving consumer demands has enabled the company to seamlessly adapt to the emergence of LED technology. Initially, existing models were re-engineered to accommodate the new light sources. Over time, the technical department—strengthened by a team of cutting-edge professionals—developed new designs specifically created for LED applications.

The ongoing commitment of the Abbate family has ensured continuous innovation and growth, allowing CIVIC to evolve into a leading manufacturer of technical and decorative lighting solutions for both indoor and outdoor environments—always in step with contemporary design and technological advancements.

We are proud to manufacture in Italy, exporting the excellence, beauty, and quality of Made in Italy to markets worldwide. Over the past year, our products have reached more than 28 countries, reflecting our growing international presence.

All luminaires are produced at our facility in Trezzano sul Naviglio (Milan), which also serves as our central logistics hub for both domestic and international distribution. Each component undergoes rigorous quality control, with every part carefully inspected and tested before leaving the premises.

CIVIC proudly maintains a fully Italian production process within its Trezzano sul Naviglio plant. All raw materials and components are selected by our technical department and are exclusively of premium quality, sourced entirely from Italy. This approach enables us to maintain close collaboration with our suppliers and stay aligned with the latest advancements across the industry.
